Our Classrooms

Tiny Tots Northgate/Greenwith Day Care

Tiny Tots

Our Tiny Tots room provides high quality care for infants aged 6 weeks to 2 years and has a 1-4 Educator to Child ratio.

Having a child centered approach, Educators work in close partnership with families to maintain individual infants routines such as sleep and bottle times. Educators record, display and send electronically all information relating to sleep, feeding, and nappy changes to parents so they can be accurately informed of their child's routine for the day.

Before infants reach the age of 2 years they achieve so many milestones. They begin to crawl and walk, pick up and manipulate objects, make their first sounds and words, play with objects and toys, explore the environment, search for objects and start to complete simple puzzles. It is a very busy and important time in the child's life and to achieve all these skills they need security, stability and the support and encouragement of caring Educators.

We do this by observing each child, noting their actions and abilities, their strengths and what challenges they are ready for. The activities we plan are developmentally appropriate and goals are set for each infant to achieve.

The Tiny Tots Playroom is large and versatile. It has three adjoining sleep rooms, an enclosed kitchenette that is not accessible to children, and a large nappy, changing and toileting room. The infant room shares it's outdoor area with the adjacent Mini Toddlers supporting children to form relationships with the Mini Toddler Educators and other children before they begin the move to that room. The large grassy outdoor play area has an undercover sandpit, built in bridge and lots of trees - sun safe practices are always used.

Our Educators are very experienced and aim to foster development by creating a safe and warm environment that nurtures trust, confidence and a sense of belonging. Educators see children as competent individuals, showing respect towards their individual thoughts, feelings and beliefs and supporting them to develop their emerging independence and autonomy.

Mini Toddlers Northgate/Greenwith Day Care

Mini Toddlers

Our Mini Toddler room caters for children aged 14 months - 2½ years of age (depending on the child’s individual stage of development). It has a 1-4 Educator-child ratio.

To ensure a smooth transition for children into the Mini Toddler room, visits are arranged from the Tiny tots room when children are developmentally ready  and are built up slowly over several weeks until the child is comfortable with the transition.

As children become more independent and confident on their feet we assess their individual needs and adapt their routine to meet these needs.

Play is an important part of the growth and development of each child enabling them to learn about themselves and the world around them. The Mini Toddlers are provided with opportunities to experience creative, imaginative, manipulative, exploratory, physical and social play under the guidance of experienced Educators that are there to support and encourage each child in all areas of their developmental progress.

These opportunities are designed to provide an enjoyable challenging and learning experience through the early years learning framework. Some examples of these activities include play dough, sensory activities, outdoor play and water play.

In a busy environment it is important for young children to sleep, rest and relax. All children are encouraged to sleep or have a rest. The sleep rooms provide space for sleeping and relaxing in a cosy corner away from the hustle and bustle of the room allowing us to cater for individual children’s requirements outside of the rooms sleep/rest times when necessary .

Toddler Rooms Northgate/Greenwith Day Care

Toddler Rooms

Our Toddler rooms cater for ages 2-3 years of age and have a ratio of 1 Educator to 5 Children. Our rooms are set up based on the children’s interests and development, allowing the children to express themselves socially and independently through role-play and self-expression.

The children are provided with a variety of activities and resources encouraging them to make their own choices and explore their environment. The toddlers have their own outdoor area with a large covered sand pit area. This offers plenty of opportunities to get active and have fun whilst building on their gross motor skills.

We understand that children of this age group become more socially responsible and are able to form and sustain friendships for longer periods. Experiences and play spaces are set out to encourage and support this.

As the children transition to the toddler rooms they begin to move away from parallel play and start engaging in play experiences with peers. This is where strong friendships begin to form and continue as the children move on to different rooms.

In the toddler rooms the children are becoming more independent and are working on their self-help skills. The routine in the toddler room is embedded with opportunities for the children to develop these skills including toileting skills, putting on and taking off their clothes, hygiene practices, self feeding , packing up after finishing play and using face washers to clean their faces after meal times.

The children in this age group are offered challenging yet achievable experiences so they can experience success and develop or improve their skills.

Pre Kindy Northgate/Greenwith Day Care

Pre Kindy

Our Pre Kindy rooms cater for ages 3-4 years of age and have a ratio of 1 Educator to 11 Children.

The primary objective of the Pre Kindy rooms is to build children's self-confidence, self-esteem and self-help skills to prepare them for a Preschool/ kindergarten program.

For children to develop and grow, they need to feel good about themselves and feel confident enough to attempt and experience new and different situations. Educational objectives can only be fulfilled when a child feels happy and secure while away from the family.

Every child is an individual and our skilled Educators will guide your child with that in mind. Each child deserves the opportunity to fulfill their own needs and reach their full potential. Our Pre-Kindy program offers support and encouragement to ensure learning is made fun and interesting.

We invite diversity of culture and customs within our Centre and ask for this information from families to extend our programs. The early child care Educator’s role is one of a guide and a facilitator. We are here to reinforce what the child is already doing and help to give it meaning. Our job is to support the individual child as they try and attempt new things and learn new ideas.

We view child care as a partnership and aim to foster a close rapport with both you and your child. This works best when parents and Educators communicate their expectations positively, negotiate a shared focus for learning and collaboratively plan for your child’s development.

Set within long day-care hours, our program runs 5 days per week giving families flexibility of choice ensuring that all children can access their 15 hours per week over 2 full days. Kindergarten provides each child with an individually tailored program focused on developing the skills for success at school and well beyond.

  • Social maturity and emotional strengths

  • Motor skills and physical coordination
  • Good health, nutrition and wellbeing
  • Independence and strong self-esteem

Our Kindergarten has recently signed up to engage with the governments ELLA program (Early Learning Languages Australia) to extend our Mandarin lessons already offered weekly .

ELLA is a digital, play-based language learning program for preschool children. This Australian Government initiative inspires children by driving a genuine interest in a new language and culture.

This program fully aligns with the languages in the Australian Curriculum, which children can study in later years, giving our  children a head start when they enter formal schooling .

What are the advantages of learning a second language at an early age :-

A number of research studies have shown that children who have learned a second language at a young age demonstrate  cognitive advantages, such as increased problem-solving skills and creativity. Children at this age are also better at mimicking new sounds and adopting pronunciation than are older learners.

The many cognitive benefits of learning languages are undeniable. People who speak more than one language have improved memory, problem-solving and critical-thinking skills, enhanced concentration, ability to multitask and better listening skills.
